Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to enjoy this wonderful weekend together. Here’s how we’re approaching accessibility with care…
Our Venue Presents Multiple Challenges!
The Hill
Let’s cut to the chase: Deloro Valley’s 132 acres are spread across natural terrain that require a hefty amount of stamina to traverse. The main grounds contain pavement, gravel, dirt, and grass, but are relatively flat for outdoor land. However, most notably, there is one very large hill that divides the festival property into Base Camp and Upper Camp. Getting to Upper Camp requires either:
Ascending an inclined, paved, 1/2 mile road either by vehicle or on foot, with great caution at night due to poor lighting
Walking a well-lit, 1/4 mile path that is more inclined, uneven, and rocky, which also crosses a very narrow creek
Upper Camp is the location of Valley View Hall (workshop and connection space), Chandelier Vista and Upper Amphitheater (opening/closing circles and some DIY activities), Grief Mandala, Upper Gazebo (play space), all cabins, and some (car) camping.
The Amenities
The Deloro Valley property is rustic and was built before ADA requirement laws. There are elevation changes and steps to access certain areas.
Upgraded lodging options (including cabins, Lodge rooms, houses, and glamping tents) do NOT accommodate some accessibility challenges. When purchasing optional lodging upgrades, please read each listing carefully for information related to each space’s accessibility considerations.
For those looking for the most accessible upgraded lodging, we generally suggest a Lodge room. The Lodge is centrally located in Base Camp near meal service and the Angel Lounge, with shared bathrooms in the hallways of each wing.
Camping areas are unpaved, and access to them varies. (Some camping areas can be accessed by vehicles.) The most quiet camping area to sleep away from any music will be the Archery camping zone, which requires a short walk over uneven terrain back to the main venue.
While most of the public spaces (including the Lodge lobby, pool, Event Center, Valley View Hall, and A-frame) can accommodate wheelchairs, paths to get to and into these spaces can be challenging, there are not automatic door openers, and seating inside is varied.
Bathrooms on site also vary in their size of stalls for toilets and showers. Bathrooms locations are indicated on our map and proximity is indicated within the description of each upgraded lodging option.
Our Solutions and Accommodations
We have been working closely with the Deloro Valley staff since last year to improve venue accessibility and accessibility services. This year we promise to offer:
Clearer information about lodging options
More on-site parking and driving passes by request
A continuous passenger van shuttle service running from 7am to 3am, servicing camping areas, lodging areas, and the main parking lot
(Note that we will no longer be giving rides to attendees on staff golf carts at any time.)
Please send specific questions or accommodation requests to Amande, our Accessibility Manager. We may not be able to accommodate all needs but we are excited to do what we can.
Personal Vehicle Use
Parking and On-Site Driving Passes
Very limited passes will be available for those for whom the continuous shuttle service would be insufficient. Please request your pass during Eventbrite check out. We will honor as many of these requests as we can, however we cannot accommodate all requests due to extremely limited parking in Upper Camp and the need to keep our roads open to our shuttle service and pedestrians.
Electric Bikes
Guests are allowed to bring e-bikes as accommodations for mobility challenges. Charging of e-bikes on site is not guaranteed by the staff of Deloro Valley. Please bring back-up batteries. Note that the road between Base Camp and Upper Camp is dark at night; sufficient e-bike lights are required. Cyclists should yield to pedestrians at all times and must not bike under the influence of any substances that could impair safe riding.
Golf Carts
Our staff will use golf carts to move equipment around on site and these golf carts will NOT be available to transport any guests. Guests should instead wait for the continuous shuttle service as needed.
Food Service Accommodations
We are working with our caterer to ensure that all meals offer options for those who are vegetarian, vegan, dairy free, and/or gluten free. When you purchase your ticket, we are also requesting information about any severe allergies. We will do our best to feed everyone safely and with delicious foods that meet your needs.
CPAP Users
Electrical outlets (please bring your own power strips and extension cords) are available in these upgraded lodging options:
Lodge rooms
Cabins
Private Houses
RVs with Hookups
Electrical outlets are NOT available for these lodging options:
Tent Camping
Glamping Tents
Car/Van Camping
RVs without Hookups
Sound and Light Sensitivities
Our venue, Deloro Valley, has many beautiful outdoor and indoor spaces to explore. Note the following information for those with certain sensitivities:
Sound
We use amplified sound systems at the pool during the daytime and in the Event Center (main play space)
Play spaces that will not have amplified sound include the dungeon in the A-frame and the Upper Gazebo
Non-play spaces that will not have amplified sound include the Unicorn Lounge and Angel Lounge
For camping, the quietest area will be the Archery camping zone, which is farthest away from the pool sound
Some but not all workshop facilitators use amplified sound; please inform facilitators if you need support with your hearing
Light
We will not use any strobe lights ever
Most of our spaces are lit to maintain a sexy or relaxed mood, including some outdoor lighting; few spaces are brightly lit
Some walking paths and the road connecting Base Camp and Upper Camp are poorly lit; personal lights are encouraged
Service Animals
Service animals are allowed on site, but staff must be notified in advance. (No other animals are allowed on site!) A service animal must always be under the care and control of its handler or someone designated by the handler. Staff will ask to have a service animal removed from the premises if the animal is out of control and the handler does not take effective action to manage it, or if the animal is not housebroken. The responsibility to supervise and care for a service animal does not fall on the business, staff, or government entity providing access.
